Another GREAT company that really stepped up to the plate this year is Pete Alex’s Great Lake Tackle Shop. Pete is no stranger to the tournament scene, and a few years ago he started an online tackle shop. Pete has some exclusive colors from Dreamweaver on his site, and currently he is running a “Blow Out” special on all Gamma fishing lines. Stop on over to his website and check out what he has for the Great Lakes troller!
Great Lakes Tackle Shop
A little bit about Pete’s tackle shop - Great Lakes Tackle Shop was created in 2009 by Captain Pete Alex of Vision Quest Sport Fishing to give every fisherman fron the novice to the charter captain one place to find all the latest in Great Lakes Fishing tackle and gear.
In addition, we know the fishing market well and keep informed of many of the hot colors, patterns and devices being used today. Although we cannot carry everything, we make an attempt to carry a diverse and large inventory of those colors and devices that work. Our network of anglers and on the water experience allows us to not only “use” these products but promote them as well “if” we find them of the proper quality. After all, performance and quality matter to us as well as “users” of these same products. All of our products have been field tested and proven.
Our goal is to provide our customers and friends with quick and friendly service. We make it our goal to carry a wide array of colors and styles with the inventory levels to back it up. We also carry high quality proven products. You won’t find junk here on our site. Our final and most important goal is to create a satisfied customer base.

The Wilson Harbor Invitational is proud to announce Scotty Downriggers as a sponsor to our 2012 event.
Scotty released a new downrigger in 2011, and 2012 marks 60 years of business for the company. They were very eager to jump back on board with our event after the success we had in 2011.

It’s time to start rolling out our sponsors for the 2nd Wilson Harbor Invitational. In no particular order we would like to welcome back Cannon Downriggers. Last Spring Cannon introduced it’s newly designed line of downriggers featuring the Cannon Edge Design, which features fewer moving parts, one-piece composite construction, a redesigned boom end, protected circuit boards, and easy access to the spool, switches, plugs and mounting knobs.
So help us welcome back Cannon!

More invitations are going out!

If you’ve requested an invitation for the 2nd Wilson Harbor Invitational it will be going out in the mail tomorrow morning. Everyone who fished the tournament last year was given time to send in their deposit to hold their spot, so now it’s time to fill the field. Teams are RSVP’ing almost daily, so don’t wait too long as the field is filling up fast.

Wilson Harbor Invitational Invitees - Please Read

It’s that time of year again! We hope everyone had a great holiday season, but it’s time for us to start planning for the 2nd Wilson Harbor Invitational event. In the end our goal is to top our inaugural event. We want to put out a product that can’t be beat! So expect much of the same, but look out for some new changes or additions that we have in store.

In early December each of the 72 teams that participated in 2011 were sent invitations for our 2012 event. Due to space constraints on dockage, and for our banquet, we have to cap the field at 75 teams. Those teams from 2011 have had an opportunity to secure their spot by sending in their deposits, and they are coming in almost daily, but after January 7th invitations will be going out to teams who have requested invitations. At this point it will become a first come first serve basis, and once 75 deposits are received the field will close. So, please don’t wait to get those deposits in. We want you back!

CORRECTION TO THE INVITATION

Your $200 deposit has to be postmarked by January 7th to be entered into the $1000 cash drawing that will be held on January 14th. NOT the full $1000 entry fee.

Announcing the 2012 Wilson Harbor Invitational Date

We will be holding the 2nd annual Wilson Harbor Invitational on May 12th, 2012. We plan on sending out invitations soon. If you participated in the tournament last year you will receive an invitation, and have the first crack at one of the 75 spots available. Anyone who did not participate in our inaugural event can e-mail us and be put on a waiting list.

Stay tuned for more announcements pertaining to the 2012 event!

A few friendly reminders
  • The Captains meeting will be held at 6pm SHARP Friday night. It will be held under the tent at the Wilson Boatyard marina.
  • Your dock is already assigned to you. Please stop in to the gas shack at the Wilson Boatyard to receive instruction on where it is.

See you all in Wilson this weekend for what should be One Heck of a Weekend!

April 18th - Important Deadline

We made some courtesy calls to people yesterday to remind them that the balances for the tourney need to be post marked by April 18th. If it is post marked after April 18th there is a late fee assessed to your entry fee. Also, we need the Angler Surveys along with the T-shirt/Dinner Banquet forms filled out and sent back to us. The more we can get out of the way now the less we have to deal with during the weekend of the tourney, which will allow you to enjoy it more.

Docks are being handled by the committee. If you do not dock in Wilson for the season, or have a slip for the month of May, the committee is assigning you a dock. Head on over to the gas shack (at the Wilson Boat Yard) when you get into town and we will direct you to where your dock is.

Its less than a month away! I hope your as excited as we are!

Getting closer

First off Im sorry for not posting as of late however there is lots to do. Angler surveys are coming in Tee shirt orders are brisk and we have 2 more sponsors to introduce. Here are two that belong in everyones boat and we are thrilled to have them on board. We are pleased to introduce Protroll and Damn Good Foods to the family. The first needs no introduction at all and the latter makers of some Damn Good Beef Jerky. What a novel idea right? Please remember due dates are looming so please mail in your info!
